Hans AI from Audiio does just that, giving creators a natural language search for music that works for a scene.

Audiio has an extensive library of royalty-free music and sound effects from a network of independent artists and publishers. They’re available in over 180 countries, and content creators of all types can take advantage of Audiio’s wide range of professional offerings. This year, they introduced Audiio Elements, which lets you edit individual components of any song on their platform, and LinkMatch AI helps find music quickly, while Originals offers original music from some of their top artists.

How Hans AI works

Hans AI uses prompts from the creator to suggest a song that will fit a scene. Moreover, while Audiio can recommend music from their library based on a pasted link to a song, Hans AI does it based on a brief description of the scene or finding music similar to a score or popular song.

Searching for the right royalty-free music can take time – hunting around a website, sampling the music, and then adding it to your NLE timeline to see if it fits. Hans AI does it in seconds and can comprehensively list music that best fits your scene or project. Hans AI also showcases unique results that may elevate the scene further.

For example, you may have a scene involving the preparation and enjoyment of an intimate candlelit dinner or an action movie score. Simply type the description into the Hans AI search function, and a list of music options appears. From there, it’s easy to listen to the suggested song selections and give them a thumbs up or down. With an Audiio license, you can download the song and add it to your project.

You can also be more specific and ask Hans AI to find a song similar to a score from a movie or TV show or a song from an artist or band you admire.

Hans AI features intelligent and generative search. Source: Audiio

Taking Hans AI for a test drive

We tested Hans AI to see how it performs; it is fast and intuitive. The results for “intimate candlelit dinner” were very good to excellent. I also asked for music similar to the main score in Jurassic Park, and the songs were in the spirit or very close. And not just the primary score from the Dino classic but other pieces of music from John Williams’ brilliant score.

Test driving Hans AI from Audiio. Source: CineD

Finally, I typed in different artists and songs, and it presented music in the vein of those bands and singers. For example, searching for music similar to Radiohead presented songs in the spirit of the band. Songs similar to those from Taylor Swift had even better results, both with and without vocals.

Audiio has a wide range of genres, from pop to country, rock, and more. The songs are very professional and quite good. They will fit into any type of project, including narrative, corporate video, a commercial, wedding, etc. Nothing sounded like standard stock music.

New Artlist Personal Plan – Expands Access for Social Media Creators https://www.cined.com/new-artlist-personal-plan-expands-access-for-social-media-creators/ https://www.cined.com/new-artlist-personal-plan-expands-access-for-social-media-creators/#respond Mon, 29 Nov 2021 15:00:03 +0000 https://www.cined.com/?p=213769 Sound and music have always been the pivot upon which creatives balance the success of their work. A movie with bad sound and music but great camera work will falter. However, a film with bad camera work but great sound and music will most often succeed. In today’s creative landscape, several companies offer music and sound effects libraries at varying prices to help filmmakers. One such company is Artlist and they are further opening the door of their libraries to support creatives. As Artlist expands access for social media creators with a new personal subscription plan, influencers and YouTubers alike will be able to elevate their work. Let’s take a closer look at it!

What is Artlist? What began as a library of music for narrative and commercial work, has expanded into a collection of SFX, stock footage, and music. For a monthly (or annual) subscription, creatives have access to an extensive catalog of high-quality music. Some of this music is also widely available via music streaming services.

Artlist

The Artlist catalog can also be extended with SFX and stock footage through Artgrid. Access to such a tool expands the abilities of filmmakers on a budget, or those running a one-person operation. With the release of Artlist’s new Personal Plan, the company has set its sights on the growing influencer, YouTube, and social media market.

The new plan

The Artlist Personal subscription plan combines their music and SFX catalog into one bundle. Do you have a YouTube channel? Or perhaps a Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or Twitch that you use in creative ways? Do you have a podcast? Artlist is a good tool to elevate your content and avoid copyright issues with music. Users will be able to link one channel from each of the above social media platforms to their accounts. Any content published will be cleared from copyright and is allowed to be monetized.

The Artlist Music Library UI.

There are no follower requirements for YouTube channels and no multi-year contractual obligations. The Personal Plan will cover everything from live-action and animated videos, to presentations and podcasts. Literally, any projects a user posts on their social media channels will be covered under the license. Here’s a breakdown from Artlist on what’s new:

Much like the Unlimited plan, all of the licenses last forever for all published projects during the subscription period. If you end up canceling, everything you have published thus far is still covered. Though, you can’t use those songs on new projects. The Unlimited plan expands on this and allows you to keep your perpetual license even after the subscription is canceled. All of that music is also usable for client work, paid and promoted videos, and broadcast. Check out Artlist’s license page for more info.

The Artlist Personal Plan Subscription (Music + SFX)

  • Annual: $9.99 per month ($119.88 billed annually)
  • Monthly: $14.99 per month

The Artlist Unlimited Plan Subscription (Annual Only)

  • Music only: $199 per year
  • Music + SFX: $299 per year

By the way, if you want to get 2 months free on a yearly plan, you can do so by going through our link!

Making a web series with Artlist

It’s hard to make a judgment on a music library without seeing it in action. So I’d like to share my experience using Artlist on a web series I co-wrote and directed. “Stupid Cupid” is a web series about four best friends who attempt to save modern love by building a dating app, even though they’re the worst people for the job.

The show was shot for a budget of $24,000 in New York and partially funded by The New York Foundation for The Arts and MOME. In order to stretch the budget to cover multiple locations and 42 pages of scenes, I had to wear more than one hat. From directing and editing to color and scoring, I needed all the help I could get.

That is where Artlist came to the rescue. 90% of the sound effect and music for all seven episodes came from the Artlist library. Not only did we save money, but the high-quality music and SFX also added invaluable production value that our small team couldn’t produce. Several beats within the story only worked because we found the right music for that moment. All for $200. A fraction of what a composer would have cost.

Since completing our show, we have streamed online, at the Dances With Films Film Festival, and are currently being broadcast on TV via the NYC Media channel. With the Artlist license, all of our music has been covered.

But since seeing and hearing is so much better than reading, check out Episode 1 of Stupid Cupid above. Click on our channel to see the rest of the show and see how we implemented Artlist to not only score the show but to create the foley and SFX that we needed.

Do you need it?

In my opinion, yes. But only if your creative work is in need of music or SFX. The Artlist library is a great budget-friendly option with wonderful music options. While it was a great tool for narrative, commercial, and documentary work, the Artlist library is now expanded to fill this need for social media influencers and creatives.

There are other music libraries that offer strong competition and it’ll be up to each individual user to see what fits their needs. But for me, Artlist is a great tool I will also rely on in the future.

Uppbeat SFX Launched – Quality Sound Effects for Content Creators https://www.cined.com/uppbeat-sfx-launched-free-sound-effects-for-content-creators/ https://www.cined.com/uppbeat-sfx-launched-free-sound-effects-for-content-creators/#respond Tue, 21 Sep 2021 09:18:19 +0000 https://www.cined.com/?p=204172 Uppbeat is a new subscription-based music platform and just brought SFX into the mix. With a fairly extensive and well-organized SFX library, you can easily find the perfect effects to take the sound design of your videos to the next level.

Check out our coverage of the launch of Uppbeat’s music service from earlier this year.

Sound effects & clips

With a layout that looks more like the Netflix Home Screen than the unsearchable folders from most SFX libraries, Uppbeat is really easy to navigate.

SFX are broken down into categories that are more geared toward social media (Fail, Badass, What?!, etc) but they also took the time to include sounds for Environments, Cinematic hits, and transitions, and even curated Sound Kits by genre.

The layout is minimalistic and simple, making searching for something quick and easy. This is extremely important when you’re on a deadline and looking for the perfect audio clip.

A test search for a ‘boom hit’ loads in 135 clips in under 3 seconds on my system. Whatsmore, the loading times to preview those clips seem almost non-existent. Quick hits, whooshes, and rumbles are SFX that editors are constantly using for promotional works. Just the load times to preview them from other libraries are often longer than the clips themselves.

All-in-all, I’d give Uppbeat an A+ for their interface, speed, and the fantastic quality of their audio samples.

Free music for creators

Proclaiming themselves to be the first ‘freemium’ music services, Uppbeat offers content creators 10 free tracks per month. Unfortunately, freemium accounts are limited to 50% of the Uppbeat catalog, which is still a lot! They also offer a premium package for $6.99/month with unlimited downloads and are currently running a 3-year-plan promotion for $99.99 ($2.78/month) or a lifetime plan for just $199.99.

Uppbeat SFX’ use of the content

Uppbeat’s music and SFX services are intended mainly for social media postings. They limit the use to businesses with 10 employees or fewer. You can use their music on any open distribution platform, but keep in mind that any content you’re creating for larger companies or paid advertisements requires a commercial license from Music Vine.

For more information, please head to Uppbeat’s website.

Filmstro Unlocks New Pricing – Lifetime License For $189 https://www.cined.com/filmstro-unlocks-new-pricing-lifetime-license-for-189/ https://www.cined.com/filmstro-unlocks-new-pricing-lifetime-license-for-189/#comments Tue, 03 Aug 2021 17:14:13 +0000 https://www.cined.com/?p=197670 Filmstro is an audio product that is a bit difficult to categorize: it presents pieces of music and allows you, the composer or user – you don’t need to be musical, only creative – to power your video’s narrative through what have been analysed to be the three constants in music structure: momentum, depth and power. You manipulate these three parameters to suit the video. It’s like library music that lives.

Now, the company has taken the bold step of offering a lifetime license, including all current and future updates, for $189. There’s method to this potential madness as the feeling is that creators are starting to reject the subscription model and are perhaps looking for buy-outs. Read more about our Filmstro coverage here.

The new Filmstro lifetime license details (image credit: Filmstro)

SAAS means software as a service; investors like this as a business plan as you can forecast revenue due to sign-ups. However, Filmstro now apparently believes that this does not suit the creator and that subscription fatigue is setting in. So, best to dump subscription now rather than see it dwindle over time without a solution to counter it.

This is bold marketing as you’re cutting off regular income via subscription and betting that your customers will stay with you and spend a couple of hundred dollars for the privilege. It will certainly keep the CFO awake at night as the Emails go out to their customers with the new offer. But if you didn’t have such a unique product you perhaps wouldn’t try it.

How Filmstro works

Co-founder of Filmstro Sebastian Jaeger got inspiration for Filmstro partly from Apple’s market-leading Logic Pro X music software:

They had a really cool plug-in, which came as standard, called the ‘drummer’. With a very simple X-Y pad people could choose between ‘upfront and busy’ and ‘laid-back and quiet’, that kind of thing. It did switch a light bulb on and I thought that’s genius, if you could do that for a whole orchestra effectively and give ordinary people the chance to manipulate music in a really simple and intuitive way, that would be pretty special.

Filmstro
Three constants in music structure are Momentum, Depth and Power. You can keyframe them in Filmstro. (image credit: Filmstro)

His idea then was to couch this choice in terminology that creatives would react to. “Talking about music is incredibly difficult and subjective and so I had this idea of splitting out a piece of music in to different elements and I had labelled those elements using visual arts terminology.

Things like ‘canvas’, ‘outline’, ‘color’ and ‘shading’. I ran it past a bunch of people and one of the early pieces of feedback was, ‘this is fine but you got to make it way simpler’.

Hot shot track star

Descriptions of how Filmstro works doesn’t really do it justice. When you start using it, the penny drops almost immediately and this de-construction of picking music for video become insanely addictive. You do start thinking you’re a hot shot composer after a few minutes.

Filmstro

The new licensing agreement offers you the following benefits:

  • Unlimited exports and customisation with the Filmstro App.
  • Unlimited use in everything from YouTube video to worldwide theatrical releases.
  • Worldwide cover, no copyright strikes and cleared forever.
  • New music added every week – request your own and we add it at no further cost!
  • Buy once, use forever – no ongoing subscription or recurring payments.

Filmstro is available as a standalone App and as a plug-in for Adobe Premiere Pro. There’s a free demo available on their site and I encourage you to download it so you can understand its potential.

Music Vine AutoClear Introduced – YouTube Copyrights Made Easy https://www.cined.com/music-vine-autoclear-introduced-youtube-copyrights-made-easy/ https://www.cined.com/music-vine-autoclear-introduced-youtube-copyrights-made-easy/#comments Mon, 24 May 2021 13:30:36 +0000 https://www.cined.com/?p=186965 Popular stock music service Music Vine has just released a new feature called AutoClear which automatically detects and releases copyright claims on YouTube videos within minutes of their occurrence. This feature is not yet available for their entire catalog, but Music Vine is working hard to include as many tracks as possible.

Content creators rejoice! Working with YouTube as your main distribution channel is both a blessing and a curse. Easy, free (at least in terms of hard coins), and scalable. That’s great. The downside, however, is that you have to be really careful about what you upload, especially in terms of background audio.

Music Vine AutoClear

If YouTube’s algorithms detect copyrighted material, it’s up to you to prove that you have the appropriate rights to legally publish the tunes in question, even if you bought a license for that very reason. Music Vine AutoClear is a new feature that helps you do that. Automatically.

Music Vine AutoClear

Getting a so-called copyright strike is not exactly a fun thing. Even if you have the appropriate rights by purchasing a license, the video in question will remain locked until all the paperwork is done. Music Vine AutoClear is here to help. It takes care of these copyright claims automatically in the background, so you don’t have to. This approach doesn’t prevent a claim from happening, but AutoClear, well, clears it within minutes.

Music Vines take on this:

For supported tracks, our AutoClear system offers two solutions (see below) to automatically detect and release copyright claims on public YouTube videos. This means that copyright claims will initially occur but should be released within 15 minutes of a video going public (claims will remain present while a video is scheduled or set to private).

Music Vine provides two ways to achieve this: 1) whitelisting a YouTube channel or 2) AutoClear codes for specific videos. This is a good solution if, for example, you work with numerous clients and not just a single YouTube channel.

Whitelisting a specific YouTube channel

For this approach, you need to add your desired YouTube channel within your Music Vine account under “AutoClear Channel Whitelist”. From now on, any copyright claim will be handled and resolved automatically by Music Vine AutoClear. Note: You must have made at least one purchase on Music Vine to use AutoClear Whitelist.

Music Vine Catalog

Since not every track available on Music Vine is covered by this new AutoClear feature, you may still have to settle claims the old way, by presenting your license. But Music Vine seems to be working hard to add as many tracks as possible to support this new and very handy feature. But it’s not entirely up to them, as they have to negotiate with artists and record labels in this regard.

AutoClear specific videos

The second approach is to use unique, so-called AutoClear codes that can be embedded in the video’s description. I’ll let Music Vine explain how this works:

The AutoClear code can simply be included in the description of the YouTube video (it’s important to do this before the video is published) and copyright claims will then be automatically released, usually within 15 minutes of occurring. Note that AutoClear codes are unique to each track license, and a single code works only for a single video.

Subscription customers can obtain AutoClear codes by clicking the ‘Generate AutoClear Code’ button that appears after licensing supported tracks. For Pay-Per-Use licenses, AutoClear codes can be generated by clicking the icon in the Order Summary.

Pricing

The new feature is free, but of course you have to pay for the licenses of the music you use from Music Vine. They offer both a pay-per-use and subscription-based payment model. Choose what fits your workflow best.

You can check pricing over on Music Vines website here.

When browsing the Music Vine catalog, each track covered by this new AutoClear feature can be identified by a small green circular tick icon next to the track.

Audiio Pro Launched – All-Inclusive Music & Sound FX Licensing Subscription https://www.cined.com/audiio-pro-launched-all-inclusive-music-sound-fx-licensing-subscription/ https://www.cined.com/audiio-pro-launched-all-inclusive-music-sound-fx-licensing-subscription/#respond Tue, 20 Apr 2021 14:01:20 +0000 https://www.cined.com/?p=182454 Once principal shooting is wrapped up, post-production begins and with it one of the major pain points of modern indie shooters: music licensing. Audiio.com has just launched a new subscription service called Audiio Pro to help ease that pain. It’s an all-inclusive, all-covering music and sound fx licensing subscription tier that takes the hassle out of music licensing. Let’s take a quick look listen!

Music licensing is not exactly a topic that people like to deal with. Questions like “On what platform will this video be released?”, “How many viewers will see it?”, “Will it be broadcast? And if so, in which countries?” come up again and again, and often the creators don’t know exactly how successful a particular piece will be, whether it might even be broadcast or just eke out its life on YouTube.

Audiio Pro

Audiio Pro tries to tackle this state of uncertainty with a rather unique service: all the music and sound FX found on their platform are fully licensed for anything you might do with your video. Clay Jones, co-founder of Audiio puts it like this:

The lines between distribution platforms like television and internet streaming are becoming more blurry every day and music licensing needs to evolve at the same rate technology is evolving. With Audiio Pro, Creators now get access to some of the highest quality music available and with a single-click download they are free to distribute everywhere.

Clay Jones, Co-Founder

Audiio Pro – new subscription

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igLNsI3qWbU

The Audiio.com platform is not new, it has been around for quite a while (see our coverage here and here). What is new is the Pro in the latest Audiio Pro subscription tier. It offers an all-inclusive licensing model that covers everything you can imagine:

  • YouTube (including monetization)
  • Twitch
  • Vimeo
  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • Video On-Demand
  • OTT (Over-The-Top) Streaming Platforms (Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, etc)
  • Weddings
  • Podcasts
  • Broadcast Television
  • Internal Corporate
  • External Corporate
  • Theatrical Releases
  • Film Festivals
  • Personal & Client Projects
  • Any future video platform
Audiio

The two bullet points that stand out here are Broadcast Television and Any future video platform. Broadcast TV is not usually included in music licensing platforms, so this is definitely a nice feature. But what if you’ve licensed music for a video you uploaded to YouTube and now you want to move all your videos to another video platform? Well, Audiio Pro has you covered, as their licenses include all other (and future) video platforms as well. Neat!

Pricing

Audiio Pro is a subscription-based service and costs $16.60/month ($199/year). For that, you get access to the entire music and sfx catalogs and a perpetual, lifetime license for each download. That’s pretty cool, since it basically means that even if you cancel your subscription in the future, all the content you download is still available to you.

  • Unlimited use of the entire music catalog
  • Unlimited use of 30,000+ cinema-quality sound effects
  • New songs and sound effects added daily
  • A universal license that covers distribution on every platform
Audiio pricing

The Lifetime-labeled tiers are still available, so it’s up to you which one you want to get. If you create a lot of videos and want to be sure that each license will work regardless of the number of views and/or platforms used, this new Audiio Pro tier might be a good choice for you.

Dynascore Launched – AI Driven Music for Filmmakers https://www.cined.com/dynascore-launched-ai-driven-music-for-filmmakers/ https://www.cined.com/dynascore-launched-ai-driven-music-for-filmmakers/#comments Tue, 13 Apr 2021 10:58:11 +0000 https://www.cined.com/?p=181126 Wonder Inventions has just released a new service to help filmmakers and content creators get the perfect music for their next project: Dynascore. This tool is available as a standalone app for Windows and Mac users and an extension for Adobe Premiere Pro. With Dynascore, all you have to do is select a musical scheme and then adjust the music track with the specific length, transitions, pauses, and endings of your video. Let’s take a closer look at how this Artificial-Intelligence-based tool can help you.

In the last couple of years, we’ve seen more and more tools/software for filmmakers that use AI to get the job done faster or with better results. For example, you can use Colourlab Ai to help you color grade with artificial intelligence, Audio Design Desk for sound design, or Pond5 research tool for stock footage.

However, even if the music licensing market has been vastly simplified recently, with more affordable and simple-to-understand offerings, the quest for the perfect track for your next project is still a long process. Most of the time, you have to cut the music track and “remix” it, shorten the intro, move the break elsewhere, and so on, so that the music fits your edit.

There are already tools like Syncly Music that simplify this music-sourcing process with an Adobe Premiere Pro extension. But, to help you with that and work more logically (put some music over your edit, and not change your edit depending on the music) a young company called Wonder Inventions released Dynascore.

Dynascore = Dynamic + Score

Howard Lerman, the co-founder, and CEO of Yext, recently launched Wonder Inventions, the startup behind Dynascore. This tool aimed at filmmakers and content creators is designed to create “tailormade” music compositions for your edit, but it doesn’t create music from scratch. Indeed, Dynascore is based on what the company calls “Masterworks.” In short, these are around 1000 original classic compositions that are in the public domain.

To get started, you have to search the tool’s library depending on the mood, genre, subgenre, instruments, and theme you want for your music. Then, once you have your composition, select the track’s length and where you want your musical transitions, pauses, and endings. The Dynascore music engine – or artificial intelligence – will hatch a track that perfectly meets your requirements in about a minute. And that’s it; the song you created should now be in sync with your video.

Suppose you make changes to your edit (or a client request changes, but that’s very rare ;)), no problems. All you have to do is adjust the timings to your new edit, and Dynascore will dynamically reconstruct the same composition to reflect your edits.

Also, if you change your mind and want a different type of music over your video, you can swap in a different track with the same timings with just a few clicks.

How does it work?

The concept behind Dynascore is to adjust/create music that sounds like a real song, and not weird music with no sense created by an AI. The tool seamlessly put together small parts that makes musical sense to create a global track/song.

The nice thing about Dynascore is that all tracks are completely unrestricted and royalty free; no need to search for hours for the correct license and make sure you can use it on your next project.

Last but not least, it is available as a standalone desktop app for Mac or Windows, but also as an Adobe Premiere Pro Extension. With the Premiere Pro Extension, Dynascore integrates directly into the NLE to get the job done faster.

Pricing and availability

Dynascore is available now, you can try it for free with 20 tracks, and it’ll cost you $19/month if you want to continue using it.

If you want to learn more about it, please visit Wonder inc.’s website here.

What do you think about this new AI-powered tool? Did you try Dynascore for yourself? Don’t hesitate to let us know in the comments below!

Uppbeat Launched – Free Music for YouTubers and Content Creators https://www.cined.com/uppbeat-launched-free-music-for-youtubers-and-content-creators/ https://www.cined.com/uppbeat-launched-free-music-for-youtubers-and-content-creators/#comments Mon, 18 Jan 2021 11:57:34 +0000 https://www.cined.com/?p=171368 Uppbeat, a free music platform for YouTubers and content creators, has launched today. Aiming to capture the attention of those who are in need for quality free music, this new service from the creators of Music Vine, looks extremely interesting. Let’s take a closer look.

If you are one of the many content creators out there, you know how it is to always be in the search for a reliable, modestly priced music platform, one that gives you a sufficient amount of music tracks to choose from.

Music Licensing Platforms – Current Offerings

The number of music licensing platforms grew enormously during the last few years, especially because everybody (and their mothers) started to create and upload content to YouTube and other social media channels. Some music businesses were very fast to identify the trend and broke the traditional “payment per track” business model by introducing a completely new initiative that relied on a single, monthly or yearly music subscription, regardless to the amount of music consumed. One of those leading platforms for music for video and film is Music Vine – and now they are coming up with something a bit different. An initiative that can be interesting for the many creators out there.

Uppbeat – Free Music for Your Online Productions

Let’s face it. The creative community is booming – YouTube, TikTok and other social media platforms – everyone is sharing some sort of video content these days. However, some common issue stays the same. Where to find quality music to accompany the videos and more so, how not to have copyright claims (which of course can lead to a loss of ad revenue). Up until now, the choice has been to either have one of the paid music license subscriptions or, use YouTube’s Audio Library. Now, with the launch of Uppbeat, YouTubers and content creators can enjoy a free music platform, built from the ground up for the creator community. With a diverse catalog and curated playlists, many types of music content can be found rather easily.

Uppbeat – Business Model

The platform is launching today with over 1000 registered tracks from indie artists, producers and composers from around the world with the aim to grow quickly.

Free Subscription:

With access to 50% of the entire catalog (1000 tracks), Uppbeat’s free users can download ten full-length tracks per month. Those tracks can be freely used in YouTube videos without risking copyright claims (an “Uppbeat credit”, text mention must be included in the YouTube video description in order to clear copyrights).

Premium account:

For $6.99 USD a month (or $66.99 yearly), the Premium account will provide unlimited and unrestricted access to Uppbeat’s catalog (more than 1000 tracks), as well as the ability to whitelist YouTube channels and preempt any future copyright claims.

Thoughts

This concept sound extremely interesting to me and I encourage you guys to browse around and share with us if indeed this new platform represents the “next generation” of music for video and film productions (Joystock is offering a similar concept but at a much smaller scale).

Please make sure to understand how the concept works and enjoy making the most out of it.

Last but not least: Whenever we hear about a music for video service, we get concerned about how the producers and creators of those music tracks are being treated financially, especially if it can be consumed for free. In the interview above with Lewis Foster, CEO at Uppbeat, I asked this exactly and here is what he had to say:

Beyond providing a great experience for our users, supporting our artists and music producers is immensely important to us. They’re the beating heart of our platform, so we’ve devised an ethical business model that allows us to remunerate them from a number of revenue streams. It means our artists are always paid fairly for their music, regardless of whether it’s been downloaded by someone with a free account or Uppbeat Premium.

We’ve created a fairer, more usable service that offers better value than other music platforms. We’re now intent on establishing ourselves as the world’s go-to resource for YouTubers and creators that are seeking quality music for their content.

For more information, please head to Uppbeat by clicking here.

What do you think about such a music service for video and film? Can a free music licensing platform be interesting for you to explore, and would you consider the Premium model too, in order to support that kind of initiative? Please share with us your thoughts in the comment section below.

Joystock Launched – Royalty-Free Music for Filmmakers https://www.cined.com/joystock-launched-royalty-free-music-for-filmmakers/ https://www.cined.com/joystock-launched-royalty-free-music-for-filmmakers/#comments Tue, 08 Dec 2020 09:42:08 +0000 https://www.cined.com/?p=166695 If you’re looking for royalty-free music, free of charge, without even creating an account, look no further: Joystock will be your next favorite place (after CineD, of course ;). Jessica Toussaint, a Belgium-based music composer, launched her own platform and gave her music for free. Let’s take a closer look at it!

Over the last few years, music licensing providers and services switched their programs towards subscription models. There are dozens of platforms already available such as Artlist, Epidemic music, Music Vine, Keyframe Audio, Filmstro, Musicbed, Shutterstock, Audiio, and such. However, how much money music composers who sell their works on these platforms receive is a delicate question. Belgian music composer Jessica Toussaint was tired of only making very little money from the sale of her music and therefore decided to make her compositions available free of charge on her own platform, Joystock.

It means that you can use all of Joystock’s tracks for YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, and many other video streaming platforms. Also, you can use Joystock’s music for all type of videos, including:

  • Personal (wedding, holidays, …)
  • Educational (school project)
  • Vlog
  • Documentary
  • Movie

  • Advertising

However, if you plan to sell your program to Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime, or to TV/Radio broadcasters, you may not do so for free. In that case, please talk to the team using this contact form for an individual license.

What do you think about this royalty-free music initiative? Do you already have a subscription-plan to a music provider? Don’t hesitate to let us know in the comments below!

Audiio.com Launches Lifetime Sound Effects Membership https://www.cined.com/audiio-com-launches-lifetime-sound-effects-membership/ https://www.cined.com/audiio-com-launches-lifetime-sound-effects-membership/#comments Tue, 22 Sep 2020 12:00:08 +0000 https://www.cined.com/?p=158211 If you want access to a library of sound effects (SFX), head over to audiio.com to buy your membership for $199 flat and keep downloading SFX indefinitely.

The sound level is neglected by filmmakers more often than not and choosing a music track that somewhat matches the mood of the video is often only a small part of the solution.

However good sound design elevates any project to new heights: from footsteps, subtle rustling of clothes up to thundering storms and explosions. David Lynch has put it like that:

“Films are 50 percent visual and 50 percent sound. Sometimes sound even overplays the visual.”

David Lynch

Finding the right sound effects and sourcing them in good quality has become a little easier because of Audiio.com.

What‘s Audiio.com?

Audiio.com — an online music licensing website — hasn‘t been around for that long, but has attracted more than 20.000 users, according to their press release. I haven‘t used the service yet, but have listened to a bunch of their tracks and I am impressed with the production value and quality of the offerings. Currently they offer around 3,000 tracks in their repertoire.

Sound Effects en Masse

Now Audiio.com launched a library of sound effects that can be used without restriction or limitation, forever: In films, podcasts, video games, advertisements, and virtually any other media imaginable.

The offer two ways to license their sound effects:

  • Music + SFX Subscription: $199 (billed annually)
  • Lifetime SFX Membership: $199 (one-time payment)

At launch Audiio.com offers close to 10,000 exclusive high quality SFX in 400+ categories. 30,000 more SFX are in to be added to the library in the months ahead. Audiio claims that the SFX have been crafted by designers that worked for Netflix, Lionsgate, and LucasArts.

The $199/Lifetime offer is a really sweet deal, if you are using SFX on a regular basis. Audiio.com also offer a combined SFX/Music annual subscription for $199/Year and a Music lifetime subscription for $299/Lifetime.

Do you use SFX in you projects? What do you thing of Audiio‘s offering? Discuss in the comments below!
